DIY Candle Instructions

Before starting the candle-making process, first, you need to find an appropriate vessel to pour the wick. For sustainability, we advise you to use an old candle container if you have one at home. Besides sustainability, it would also be suitable for your budget. After putting the wick into the candle container, you need to heat the wax.

To heat the wax, you need a heat source. Because most of the candle containers are made of glass, they will be resistant to heat. Therefore, no need to worry. As a heat source, you can use an electric stove, as we said above, but if you do not have one, you can also use a hot plate. If the plate is porcelain, it will contain the heat better. The heat would be enough to melt the candle wax. This part is the part that you need to add the fragrance if you want to create scented candles. Our advice is only to use essential natural oils to add fragrance. There are lots of stores where you can buy various essential oils. Depending on your wishes, you can add fragrance to your candle. That’s the answer to the question of how to make scented candles at home.

If you also want to add color to your candle, you need to add the color to that part. The most common mistake in the color-adding process is using food coloring. Because food colorings contain many chemicals such as citric acid, alcohol, and glycerine, they could not be bonded with the wax. Thus, please refrain from using food coloring. Instead of food coloring, you can use mica candle dye blocks. Using candle dye blocks to add color to your wax is very easy. You need 0.02-0.06 ounces of candle day block for a pound of candle wax. After the heat is ok and the wax is melted, you need to add the candle block dye to the wax. After stirring it for about 2-3 minutes, your candle will be colored.

After your wax is ready, you need to transfer it to the wax container. It is essential to keep the wick that you put in a container at the beginning of the process in its place. Therefore, you can use popsicle sticks or skewers at that point. After pouring the wax into the container, you need to give it time to cool off. After it cools off, you can trim the wick according to the size of the candle. If it is your first attempt to make candles at home, we recommend you start with small candles.

Your DIY candle is ready to be an essential piece of your home decoration. You can always try different fragrances, different colors, and different sizes. Moreover, you can try various DIY projects after being successful in DIY candle projects! The more you practice, the better results you get.
